Position Description:

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Chesapeake, VA pump manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Create CNC Programs for production runs of cast and non-cast parts

  • Troubleshoot machining and programing issues

  • Improve machining capabilities and cycle times

  • Interact with customers and suppliers on quality issues and resolve any problems through final product acceptance

  • Disposition non-conforming parts through product design and functionality review

  • Implement corrective actions by determining root causes and develop action plans through DMAIC process

  • Review upper level drawings and provide guidance on shop floor questions

  • Solve problems on the shop floor through use of routers and verbal communication with shop employees on set ups, tooling, procedures and developing rework routings

  • Interact with the functional areas including quality, purchasing, sales, planning and production

  • Utilize CIP tools to evaluate potential areas of process improvement and standardization across all parts Manufacturing areas

  • Develop assembly procedures for complete pumps and rotors

  • Support safety performance by providing Engineering design and support as needed

  • Additional related duties as assigned by manager

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Manufacturing Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering

  • 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment

  • Experience with various machines tools and manufacturing methodology

  • 1 year of demonstrated proficiency with CNC programming

  • Knowledge of conventional and CNC machining methods

  • Ability to understand machining sequences in coherent and detailed test

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Self-Motivator with a "Get it Done" perspective

  • Computer skills include familiarity with Windows Microsoft Office, Auto-Cad and machining programming software


  • Oracle ERP system knowledge

  • Knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment

  • Experience in LEAN or six sigma

  • Knowledge of shop floor scheduling

  • Espirit / Mastercam experience
