The Sales Manager leads a team of Sales Engineers supporting the Flowserve product portfolio of pumps, mechanical seals, field service, and other aftermarket services to the end-user marketplace. The Sales Manager develops and implements sales strategies based on a solid understanding of our products and our industry. Our customers, related to this position are primarily in the oil and gas, mining, general industrial, water and process industries. Our Sales Engineers maintain customer relationships by actively calling on their sites. The Sales Manager will be accountable for sales strategies, account planning, forecasting, and bookings growth. This position includes a company car, comprehensive benefits, and base compensation plus sales incentive.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Motivate and lead Sales Engineers to meet personal and team sales goals while developing technically and professionally.

  • Develop sales plans and goals supported by accurate forecasting, and optimize the sales team by aligning resources, territories, customers.

  • Supervise the Sales Team by hiring for open positions, managing performance through company processes, planning compensation increases, rewarding success, and following company policies.

  • Maintain a reliable statement about the amounts, timing, and pattern of future bookings. Provide detailed forecasts to support operations capacity planning, master production planning, and material purchasing.

  • Build win-win customer relationships and maintain close customer contact. Travel frequently to customer sites.

  • Collaborate with our field service techs, engineers, and Plant/QRC Managers regarding responsive technical solutions to meet our customers’ needs. Act as the customer’s advocate within the organization.

  • Actively engage in corrective action where we are falling short of customer expectations and/or service level agreements, and ensure performance gets back on track.

  • Stay informed about the industry, competition, current technologies and applications so as to better position Flowserve for success.

  • Develop marketing plans including short-term plans to meet current sales objectives, and long-term plans to strategically address industry changes, competitive forces, and new technology.

  • Lead the implementation of decision support systems (opportunity management, demand forecasting, and customer linking) to achieve an optimal balance between customer responsiveness and production stability.

  • Collaborate with different organizations and individuals in Flowserve to be more efficient and to increase success across the company, locally and globally. Communicate effectively, insuring that information flows to all appropriate parties.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 6+ years of successful experience regarding the complex sales of rotating equipment with customers in oil & gas, mining, general industrial, water and process industries

  • Must demonstrate a strong engineering and technical understanding of pumps, seals, pumping systems and other turbo machinery products

  • Experience with plant reliability engineering and operations

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop others

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills

  • Ability to negotiate, mediate conflict, and work diplomatically at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to travel 50% of the time

Preferences:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)

  • 3+ years management experience highly desired, especially in leading a sales team

  • Experience with oil, gas, mining and process industries preferred.
