The Ashland, KY Quick Response Center (QRC) Application Engineer (AE) sees it all: design, proposals, manufacturing, installation, and operation of our Engineered and Industrial Products. Those products primarily include Mechanical Seals and Mechanical Seal Support Systems but may also involve our pump products as well. The QRC AE provides technical support to our customers and is a complement to our outside sales force. They will be providing engineering review, troubleshooting assistance, product recommendations and quoting. They will have the opportunity to engage our customers with on-site training, installation assistance, failure analysis, and occasional rotating equipment field surveys.
Review and interpret customer specifications.
Develop quotations that include technical information, pricing, and documentation.
Partner with Engineering Programs to submit records for seal and system drawings.
Respond to customer’s technical and logistical questions promptly and proficiently.
Support manufacturing staff with assembly issues, performance testing and drawing revisions.
Perform seal failure analysis and prepare written reports with findings.
Collaborate with Sales Engineering by discussing upgrades, communicating status of jobs, and participating in sales calls as needed.
Conduct customer training on seals, systems and basic pump operation.
Perform engineering analyses and project management work on assigned jobs.
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree (minimum Associates Degree)
All levels of experience will be considered, including new grads and mid-career.
Must have a strong customer focus and project a positive corporate image.
Must be a team player, able to problem-solve and work constructively with customers and co-workers.
Good organizational skills, able to establish priorities and work to specific deadlines.
Computer literate and savvy.
Local travel using personal vehicle, and some overnight travel required – 10%.
Some physical activity required (e.g., walking large customer sites, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities).
- Knowledge of the design, materials, and operational requirements of mechanical seals and rotating equipment desired.
