Position Description:

A Sales Engineer is responsible for introducing, promoting and selling the Flowserve Limitorque and PMV product line to our existing customers and to develop new customer accounts in order to achieve or exceed established sales goals. All Sales Engineers are also responsible for profit and expense control for their assigned territory. You will be allowed to manage the territory as if it were your own business, with certain guidelines and monitoring. This is a Field Sales position with significant amounts of Sales Channel, End User and fellow Flowserve employee interaction. Up to 70% travel is required. As of this posting the territory includes: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, and Western Pennsylvania.

Job Functions:

  • Maintain a culture of Safety and Ethical Behavior.

  • Regularly contact and visit major end users providing technical support and ensuring Flowserve Limitorque remains a preferred supplier of valve actuator products.

  • Regularly call on EPC and A&E accounts, such as CH2M, Fluor, Hazen & Sawyer, etc., providing technical support and specification guidance and influence and obtaining updates on the status of active projects.

  • Coordinate and follow up on projects and sales opportunities at OEM valve manufacturers using CRM tools.

  • Formulating and executing action plans for sales channel partners, including distributor, repair companies, and municipal water representatives. Provide updates versus goals for distributor partners.

  • Continually evaluate sales channel partners to determine if they are the best fit for our organization’s needs. Make joint sales calls with their outside sales people and meet regularly with their management to ensure success of our mutual goals.

  • Provide input and guidance for project pricing, coordinating with all Flowserve stakeholders, including other territory sales engineers.

  • Communicate project updates as requested by the National Sales Director, Global Sales Director, GM, and/or Inside Sales Manager.

  • Act on additional instructions upon the request of his/her supervisor.

  • Protect our market position in power and pipeline markets.

  • Support and develop markets for Fluid Power products and PMV Controls.

  • Become proficient in both the technical knowledge and sales presentation of network communication (Bus) systems, i.e. Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Device Net, Modbus, Hart, etc.

  • Develop knowledge of competitor’s products, strategies; sales channel partners, etc., so that you can better position to compete with them in the market.

Position Requirements:

  • Sales Engineers are expected to be the face of Flowserve-Limitorque and PMV to our customers and end users.

  • College degree, with preference for Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, Business related degree with a technical inclination, or equivalent outside sales experience.

  • Minimum 5 years’ industrial product sales experience, preferably in the Valve and Actuator industry.

  • Expert in all Microsoft Office Products.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Excellent presentation and listening skills.

  • Experience making sales calls and giving engineered products presentations to engineering firms and end users.

  • Experience managing third party sales channel partners, such as distributors, repair centers, and/or manufacturer’s representatives.

  • Experience managing local and international project opportunities.

  • Must be able to manage a large territory requiring 70% travel. Territory includes: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, and Western Pennsylvania.

Preferences:

  • Experience with CRM reporting tools is desired.

  • The preferred candidate would be centrally located which is in the area of Pittsburgh and/or Central Ohio.
