Position Description:

The Service Manger is responsible for the effective day to day running of the manufacturing area within the Manchester QRC. This position manages the manufacturing team to deliver production in accordance with Company objectives, driving and monitoring a culture of safety. The Service Manager keeps effective communication with Order Fulfillment, Commercial Operations Field Services and Sales Teams in order to ensure maximum Customers satisfaction. As member of the management team in Manchester QRC, this position will be responsible for the health of the business by ensuring that Flowserve’s six core values are actively driven to the highest standard within the team.

  • Drive a world class Safety Culture in the manufacturing area of the QRC in line with local regulations and company policies.

  • Responsible of the effective implementation of the Quality Management System in the manufacturing area.

  • Effectively lead and manage the manufacturing Area Supervisors with the mission of meeting company objectives and policies related to HSE, Quality, On Time Delivery, Cost and Cost Reduction, CIP and Cash Flow .

  • Manage Direct Reports to assure coordination and integration of production execution, utilization of resources, machines/equipment and facilities.

  • Set, define and monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators to ensure company goals are met. Continuous improvement of the On Time Delivery performance and reduction of the Quotation and Repair Cycle Times.

  • Ultimate responsible of the Manufacturing Planning and the management of the Order Book related to services and repairs.

  • Implementation of the adequate procedures for Inventory Management.

  • Develop, implement and monitor long term strategy of machinery, facility and capital equipment. Align local manufacturing area of the QRC to the EMA Upgrade Model on defined machines, tools and requirements.

  • Participate in annual budgeting process as well as in quality review boards and any other management committee or leadership meeting.

  • Provide support for change, motivating direct reports to challenge established work process collaboratively in order to continuously improve methods and skills.

  • Drive, inspire and align the team to high performance by setting example in rigorous commitment to the targeted KPI’s setting and communicating individual and departmental goals and objectives aligned with management of the QRC.

  • Lead a culture of ongoing development for yourself and individuals within the team.

  • Lead, recruit and retain a diverse workforce for the present and future , ensuring the Succession plans are in place for the critical roles within the team.

Position Requirements:

  • BSc in Engineering or equivalent and preferably a post graduate or equivalent qualification.

  • 5+ years of experience in managing machining and assembly of engineered components.

  • IOSH certified, NEEBOSH certified

  • Lean Practitioner and Green Belt Certified

  • Previous experience in a leadership role within the rotating equipment industries.

  • Previous experience of driving a health and safety culture across the organization.

  • Strong technical understanding of pumps, seals and pumping systems.

  • Must be able to develop and manage strong customer, supplier and internal relationships including a history of developing collaborative relationships.

  • An effective coach able to drive employee development and high performance across the QRC.

  • Committed to continuous improvement.

  • Ability to develop and sustain a vision of technical excellence and customer service that is shared by the entire team.

  • Must have a collaborative style that encourages the free flow of communication, removes obstacles, and promotes problem solving and teamwork.

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills: must be able describe the business with metrics, use business data to present recommendations, explain problems and articulate the thinking behind recommendations.

  • Proficient in both spoken and written English.

  • Familiar with ERP systems workflow (SAP, Oracle).

  • Capable in Outlook, Word and Excel and other IT systems/processes.
