Position Description:

Flowserve in Temecula CA has a unique opportunity for a hands-on Design Drafter & Test Technician in our Research & Development Lab for mechanical seals technologies. The Drafter will prepare drawings based on engineering design, as well drawings personally created to support the fabrication of test support systems. The Drafter will step away from the computer to support all aspects of test lab work, including test construction and test operations. Flowserve Temecula designs and manufactures mechanical seals and welded metal bellows used in heavy industrial settings. This R&D Team is one of Flowserve’s seven global R&D Teams, and the team’s work impacts the entire Company. The job duties include:

· Create, update, and maintain drawings in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical

· Apply knowledge of our products, drawing tools, and drawing systems to contribute fully to daily operations and the resolution of technical issues

· Design and fabricate test and test support systems, including pressure vessels and structural components

· Collaborate with R&D engineers and the Lab Test team regarding drawings, test plans, and delivery goals

· Specify fittings, fixtures, and other materials to support test programs

· Troubleshoot and maintain test lab systems, including tester plumbing and hydraulic fluid power systems, high precision measurement systems, and support equipment such as air compressors

· Install and operate test setups for R&D and customer support projects

Position Requirements:

· A.S. in Industrial Design or Engineering Graphics with 2 years of drafting experience; or a minimum of 5 years of design drafting work experience in lieu of the degree

· Skilled with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical. A high expertise in SOLIDWORKS, Pro/Engineer (Creo Parametric) or other similar software may be acceptable as a base to transition to Autodesk Inventor)

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required

· Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, component manufacturing drawings, and piping instrumentation diagrams required

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn and work as a Test Technician

· Machining training or experience, and/or mechanical training or experience, especially in rotating equipment, mechanical seals, API Piping Plans, is highly valued

· Machine design experience, Labview experience and additive manufacturing experience are highly valued

· Must be detail oriented, with a personal commitment to quality workmanship

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate and problem-solve with others

· Must have communication skills and a professional approach that contribute to team analysis, problem-solving, and collaboration

· Must be organized, with a track record of prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines for both short-term and long-term lab tests

· The lab is physically demanding: must be able to stand for long periods of time, have full range of movement, hand dexterity, ability to push and lift, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
